KBC Launches Industrial Ethernet Switch Range

KBC Launches Industrial Ethernet Switch Range
KBC’s New Line of Hardened Switches Designed Specifically for Industrial NetworksLake Forest, CA – October 6, 2010 – KBC Networks, provider of high-performance fiber optic, wireless, broadcast and network transmission products, has launched a series of environmentally-hardened, Ethernet edge switches. The KBC ES range features both managed and unmanaged switches that are designed specifically to meet the demands of today’s industrial networks.

The KBC switch range includes an unmanaged entry-level series, suitable for straightforward IP camera networks, as well as switches that offer fiber interfaces, embedded serial server data ports and SFP ports (Small Form Pluggable - a flexible port that allows users to select either a fiber SC or RJ45 interfaces). Unlike many of their networking counterparts, where systems can often afford slower recovery times, security networks and safety critical systems rely on high-speed recovery.

To meet this demand, the KBC switches offer redundancy through DT-Ring or DT-Ring+ technology to ensure recovery times of less than 100msec. “Introducing the Ethernet switch range is just the next step in providing our customers with the widest possible choice of transmission products designed specifically for demanding environments,” said Steve Kuntz, President of KBC Networks. “Although we already offer an extensive transmission range, our goal is to provide the right product for each customer’s unique requirements and that’s precisely what our new switch line enables us to do.” With an operating temperature range of between -40oC and +85oC and a protection class rating of IP40, the KBC switches feature plug-and-play design and automatic configuration of all ports. The switches are available in DIN rail or wall-mount configurations and include redundant power supplies and alarm outputs.
The company plans to build on the success of the two groups within security, intelligent transport, site management and industrial control markets, extending its reach Throughout the world. KBC’s product range, which includes the ASFOM series (a range of products that allows customers to choose the exact mix and type of signals), will now add MicroTek’s MiniLink® series of products to its portfolio. The MiniLink® series offers securely encrypted, wireless transmission products for applications where it is not practical or costefficient to run cables. So, whether the transmission medium is fiber optic or wireless, KBC Networks is now able to provide the transmission products to suit. The complete KBC range is fully ruggedized, making the products suitable for the most severe environments, and it is backed by a comprehensive warranty.
